Captain's Corner

Captain's Report May 2009:
NOR managed a respectable 5th in this year’s CSC heat in
JK
A number of NOR members made the trip to the North-East for the JK at Easter. Our UEA contingent took on the sprint event on Good Friday, with Mark Burley (90th) narrowly edging out Nick Pullen (96th). However, Nick had the better of the long-distance events, coming an excellent 19th overall on M21S at his first major event. Peter Waldron went one better, 18th on M50S. M55L saw a 3-way NOR battle, with Stephen Searle coming out on top in 51st, Tim Eden 61st and Paul Garton 83rd. Rodney Freeburn (25th) got the better of Peter Leverington (28th) on M70L. NOR’s only 2 female runners were both on the same course, and Kim Eden took the honours in 16th place, with Helen Lloyd 24th.
Summer is of course the season for many of the big multi-day events. I know that NOR will be represented at the French 3-day event in the
Colour coded league 2008/9
The second season of the colour-coded league came to a conclusion at Holt on Sunday. For the most part, those leading their respective leagues going into the last event finished the job and took the title. The one change at the top was on brown, where Rob Frost’s absence allowed myself to draw level by winning the last event. On blue, Nick Pullen did beat arch-rival Mark Burley, but his title aspirations were confounded by a couple of brown regulars running blue on the day. Interestingly, none of last year’s winners managed to defend their titles. The winners are as follows. Congratulations to all. Pens will be presented at the AGM.
Brown: Rob Frost and Glen Richardson
Blue: Mark Burley
Green: Ian Burrell
LGreen: Annika Richardson
Facebook – I have recently created a NOR group on Facebook. If you already have a Facebook account, please do sign up to the NOR group. I feel it has the potential to be a useful means of communication within the club. It is possible for all members to post messages or pictures, and get involved in discussions. For those who aren’t on Facebook yet, it is like a website, but more interactive. Once you’ve set up an account, just like an email account, you have the opportunity to join special-interest groups such as NOR. If you want any more info about this, do drop me an email.
