Invite you to a weekend of Regional Events ~ a SUFFOLK PUNCH on Saturday 13th  

              followed by a single helping of NORFOLK DUMPLING on Sunday 14th February 2010

DAY 1: THE KING'S FOREST, THETFORD   Map Ref. TL 825 748

 Directions:             From the A11,  6.3 miles north east of Mildenhall (single carriageway) or 4 miles south west of Thetford at the Elveden traffic lights turn south on the B1106. 

                                After 3 miles the Event/FC car park is on the eastern (left hand) side of the road.

From the East, South or West follow the A14 to Bury St Edmunds. At the A134 exit (Sugar Beat factory) head north sign posted Thetford. 

At the roundabout with the B1106 sign posted Fornham All Saints take the first exit. At the next round about take the 3rd exit sign posted Culford/Elveden Forest centre. Continue through the village of Culford on the B1106. The Event/FC car park is 3 miles north of the village on the eastern (right hand) side if the road.

 DAY 2: LYNFORD FOREST, MUNDFORD   Map Ref. TL 825 748

Directions:             At the A11/ A134 roundabout on the Thetford by-pass, turn North-West to Kings Lynn; continue along the A134 for 6 mile to Mundford - roundabout, turn North along the A1065 for Swaffham in ¾ mile turn right to parking/assembly.

‘O’ signed from all directions on the approach to Mundford roundabout to parking.

From the North & West A17 & A47 to Kings Lynn leave the eastern end of King Lynn southern by-pass roundabout take the A10 south in 3+ mile take the A134 Thetford, in 17 mile turn north for Swaffham at Mundford roundabout, follow ‘O’ signs.

   Maps & Terrain:     Day 1 Kings Forest - Map revised winter 2009. Scale.1:10,000.

The area is a mixture of coniferous and deciduous trees. The trees are at various stages of growth. In mid February seasonal forest undergrowth will be completely disappeared, allowing direct running beneath the tree canopy.

 Day 2 Lynford Forest - Map Scale 1:10,000 for the majority of courses, some junior courses will be using a 1:5,000 map. Lynford was completely re-mapped 2009, the area is predominately a coniferous forest with some intricate ground features.

 Courses:                The new British Orienteering colour coded courses for regional standard events are being offered;

 Registration:         For entry on the day registration is: 10.00 – 12.00 for all courses. Show membership card for member’s discount.

 Start Times:           10.30 – 12.30          Start times are in ½ hour start blocks – please indicate preferred ½ hour block when pre-entering.

 Start Location:     Day 1 – Approximately 500 m from Parking/Assembly area via road crossing.

                                Day 2 – 100 m from Parking/Assembly area.

 SI Punching:         SI units & Flags are mounted on the same stake, along with the control code.  Note there is no manual pin punch back up.

If a unit fails to flash/bleep continue on your course and “report it” at the Download Tent.

Dibber Hire 50p per day – Pre-entry and on the day hirers, dibbers are located in the Registration Tent.

 Control Lists:        Control description lists will be posted on both clubs web sites early February and will be available at Registration.

Safety:                   Day 1; All competitors must cross the B1106 adjacent to the car park entrance. Please be careful in crossing this road as traffic can be fast along this stretch. It is advisable that Junior’s competitors should be escorted at this crossing p
