Organiser’s Comments

A big thank you for all the people who volunteered and turned up on such a cold damp day so that we could put on an excellent EAL event at Lynford. Everyone of the volunteers worked hard from Car Parking, Registration, Start, Manned Road Crossing and Control Collectors.

My thanks to Paul Garton, (the Planner) and to Sarah Mansell (Controller – SUFFOC) for all their efforts in producing good courses and dealing with the winter weather!!

Also thanks to the brave competitors who came to snowy Lynford and enjoyed our fantastic sport. Well done, as it is you that makes all the hard work worthwhile.

Merry Christmas to everyone and hope the New Year brings sunlit forests!!

Controller’s Comments

It was a great pity about the weather as Paul had put a lot of effort into planning some interesting courses. I certainly enjoyed working with him again as his enthusiasm for orienteering is catching! I think that the weather made navigation more difficult as it was difficult to see vegetation in the gloomy woods. I admire all of you who persevered in the cold and wet. i certainly had the easier job of checking many of the controls on Saturday afternoon in the dry, and the rest early on Sunday morning before the precipitation got too heavy. Thanks to Kim and her band of volunteers who made the event possible, and of course Rod who had to act as my chauffeur. I look forward to working with both Paul and Kim again next year.
