    Organiser’s Comments

Thanks to all the helpers (including a new helper) who certainly made things run smoothly for me as a novice organiser. Special mention of the Bedders in particular including Karen. It was good also when participants called at Registration after their run to pay compliments, especially re the green course.

Sorry about the vegetation. The brambles are now well established all year in the area with paths, open to the public. The area to the north east, not open to the public, seemed excellent in April and May, with no paths, quite a few features for controls, and bluebells growing, but by the second half of June the bracken had come up high. The vegetation growth does seem to have been prolific this year, including nettles and grass in the meadow.
The numbers on the green courses were very pleasing, but I was disappointed by the smaller numbers on the easier courses. Despite fairly extensive promotion of the event, particularly around Poringland, we didn`t seem to attract a lot of newcomers.
Hope you weren`t too put-out going back to second master maps and controls with punches, but it seemed appropriate for the size of the area and the extent it is used by the public.
My thanks to Sue Vine for extensive help with the mapping, particularly putting it onto OCAD, and for checking everything as controller.

  • SOS Relays

The SOS Relays, an annual handicap based relay event, is due to be held at Wivenhoe Park near Colchester on 12th July 2015. Four person teams compete over a number of lengths of courses on a handicap basis, so a good mix of ages/sexes is essential to each team’s make up.

If you are interested in taking part please contact Chairman – Mick Liston as soon as possible via the Contact Form
