    Yvette Baker Trophy Final

    Over the weekend of 1st / 2nd July, our juniors made the 12 hour round trip to Northumberland to take part in the Yvette Baker Trophy Final. The event was hosted by NATO at Druridge Bay Country Park. All the courses started with controls in the strip of dunes next to the sea, ending with a loop round the park (see routegadget).

    It is the first time in many years that NOR have made the final, so the team knew that the competition would be tough with teams from clubs such as South Yorkshire (SYO) and Lakeland (LOC) taking part. They put in a great performance to beat NATO and come just behind Happy Herts. Our best scorers were Katerina Skarkova coming 2nd on Green and Josh Kohler coming equal 4th on Orange.     Fancy a weekend of Orienteering?

    Fancy a weekend of Orienteering at the White Rose in Yorkshire from 25th – 28th August 2017?

    We are hoping to get as many NOR members as possible camping at the event centre at Baxton’s Strip (although there is plenty of alternative accommodation in the area). It would be great to see a good NOR turnout in Yorkshire.

    Hopefully we can get enough people to make up a good number of relay teams for the Monday.

    The event is based 5km North of HELMSLEY at Baxton’s Strip (SE 598 892).

    The provisional program of events (all optional) is as follows:

  • Club Nights at Whitlingham

    Club Nights at Whitlingham

    When – Every Tuesday evening starting at 7pm

    Where – Norfolk Snowsport Club, Whitlingham Lane, Trowse, which is
    located a couple of minutes from the Norwich southern by-pass near
    County Hall.

    The ski club has plenty of parking, shower facilities and a BAR.

    Why not join us now the evenings are getting lighter for a run or a jog
    around Whitlingham Country Park. We may even put on some training
    targeted especially at Orienteering!!

    We start running from the ski club at 7pm. The run will be suitable for all
    and can be as long or short as is comfortable for each person – no
    pressure!

    Alternatively come along for a chat and drink around 8pm. It is a great
    opportunity to meet fellow orienteers in a social atmosphere and discuss
    future events or your latest disasters / fantastic feats, just bring your
    maps along from recent events.

  • East Anglian Championships 2017

    East Anglian Championships 2017

    On a glorious day a large contingent of NOR members (17) made their way west to Rushmere Country Park for the 2017 East Anglian Championships hosted by SMOC. Rushmere is an excellent area with many varied types of terrain ranging from runnable forest, to heath and parkland and lots of contour detail.

    Congratulations to our winners, in particular James & Katerina who were East Anglian Champions for the first time.
