British Championships & NOR League News

Glen Richardson reports……..The star of the weekend was undoubtedly Ella Gilbert. On Saturday, Ella secured 6th place on the W18E course at the individual champs. This must be the best NOR result on an elite course for many a year, and Ella still has another year in the age group. Then on Sunday, Ella teamed up with dad Jonathan and Stephen Searle to claim 5th place in the mixed relay. Again, this must be our best relay result for a long time. As if all this was not enough, Ella was confirmed as outright winner of the NOR league as a result of events at Ken Hill.

Other notable results from the British Champs were 12th place for our W50 relay team of Kim Eden, Helen Lloyd and Fiona Coventry. Kim also followed up her JK win with 2nd place on W55S. On the long courses, Helen was an impressive 13th on W55, while the top man was Rob Frost with 21st on M45.

Meanwhile, back in Norfolk, Mick Liston must have flown round the green course at Ken Hill. The Chairman annihilated the opposition to secure the win he needed to snatch 3rd place in the league from Ian Renfrew, and in so doing ensure that Barbara George couldn’t join Ella on the maximum 500. Rob Frost also produced a great run to win the brown and move into the top 5 in the league. All the more impressive considering he’d run a 90 minute course in the Forest of Dean the day before! Here are the final Final League results.
