Recent club championships have been blessed with good weather, but not this year at Felbrigg! Persistent heavy rain, but warm – personally I loved it!
Before the event, I’d thought that Mick Liston, Barbara George and Marcus Richardson would win the major trophies, so the event through up a couple of surprises (for me at least).
Barbara George did indeed win the Carol Towler Salver to become Women’s Club Champion for the sixth time. Kim Eden was second and Gillian Pilgrim third.
Glen Richardson won a close battle with Ian Renfrew for the Barry Chilvers Cup. If Ian had run 24 seconds quicker then he would have been the winner. This was Glen’s second win, the last one being in 2013. Roger Parker was third.
Matthew Bethell won the Ella Gilbert Trophy for Junior Club Champion, beating Marcus Richardson into second. A much deserved win for the hard work he puts into his orienteering. Herbie Andrews from Norwich School was third.
It wasn’t really possible to have a fastest run-in competition this year as most courses had different final controls. However, Brown, Blue and Light Green all shared #228, and the fastest men’s run-in was shared by Glen Richardson and David Sparshott. The women’s fastest run-in was by Emma Cross.

Due to the weather, it was decided to postpone the prize giving to our next event at Kelling Heath on 11th December at 10:00.
Our thanks go to the Peter Carlill (planner), Ben Bethell (organiser), Paul Beckett (controller) and all those that volunteered to make it a great event.
