  • From the Club Captain…………

    From the Club Captain…………

The East Anglian championships took place at Croxton on Sunday. Bad weather meant the presentation was postponed, but 7 NOR members can look forward to getting their hands on some silverware. The role of honour is as follows……

    W18 Ella Gilbert
    M18 Sam Nicholls
    W35 Leanne Bailey
    M45 John Ward
    W55 Kim Eden
    M55 Jonathan Gilbert
    M75 John Harvey

I always like to see wins for NOR members. It is a bit more special to win something for the first time, and a narrow winning margin makes it all the more exciting. So Jonathan Gilbert is my man of the day, winning his first East Anglian title by 11 seconds.

In the NOR Colour Coded League 2014_15 CC League Table  Ella Gilbert has established a big lead, Ian Renfrew looks comfortable in second, but there is a close battle for third.

The next action is this coming Sunday, at Cockley Cley.Looking further ahead, if you would like to run in the compassport cup, entries are now open on Fabian4.

And even further ahead, are you going to the JK or British Long Champs? If so, would you like to run in NOR relay team? So far seven people have expressed interest, and it looks like we’ll have male and female veteran teams, possibly plus another team. Entry deadline in Feb 15th, so let me know in the next few days if you are interested.

  • News from Club Captain – events to note

    Dear NOR members,
With the first local event of 2015 only a few days away, I want to make you aware of some of the major events coming up in the next few months.

Saturday 31st January – Thetford Thrash Day 1, otherwise known as the Icenian Trophy at Santon Downham. This is Cambridge University’s annual major event, which incorporates a team competition that we have won in the past.

Sunday 1st February – Thetford Thrash Day 2, incorporating the East Anglian Championships at Croxton. We won 9 titles when the champs were last held in Thetford forest. Can we top that this year?

Sunday 15th March – Compasssport Cup Heat in Sherwood Forest. Entries aren’t open for this one yet, but please let me know at this stage if you would be interested in travelling to this event by minibus. I don’t know who we’ll be up against yet, but as ever, our first challenge will be to get a team of 25 together.

For family reasons, I won’t be competing myself for a while, so I look forward to seeing how you all get on.
    Best wishes,
    Glen
