Organiser’s Comments

What an amazing turnout at Sandringham today, thank you all for coming and we hope that you enjoyed your run. Unfortunately, we didn’t have a visit from King Charles III unlike the Park Run on Saturday.

The rain held off for the whole event which was great and thanks to a great group collecting in controls we were cleared up and in our cars by 3pm.

These events would not run without a great band of helpers, some of which today was their first time helping.

David planned some great courses and was able to update the map as he planned. Paul Beckett from HAVOC was the Controller and gave great advice to both of us as Organisers and David (the Planner).

Sandringham is always a great place to organise as it has fantastic facilities and the management team there are great to work with.

Hopefully see many of you at NOR’s next event at Cawston (29th March) and if you feel you can give a bit back to the club by helping please get in touch.

Planner’s Comments

Midway through the planning process we were disappointed to hear that the estate office would only allow use of the main central area of Sandringham Royal Park. This meant that we had an area of around 50% the size of what had previously been used; we lost access to really interesting and the less-managed areas to the far South and North. Despite this setback the planning process was an enjoyable challenge, and I thank Controller Paul for his vigilance and thoroughness in helping me to keep the courses fair. My main focus was to try and have a good variance in leg length throughout with the inclusion of as long a leg as possible on the higher courses. The day went very well and it was brilliant to hear such positive feedback on the courses and on the overall organisation. Thank you to Karen and Julia for their organisation and to Paul for controlling. Also, to all the volunteers on starts, download, and collection without whom these events wouldn’t be a possibility.

Controller’s Comments

My task as Controller was made easy by the efficient organisation and the willing NOR helpers marshalled by Karen and Julia.  The large entry on a cloudy but calm day enjoyed some challenging courses set by David on an excellent map also updated by David.  Sandringham is a deceptively tricky area which is fast for those who can run and maintain map contact but quickly becomes much harder with a short lapse of technique or concentration.  David made excellent use of the available area, which was reduced due to land permission constraints, and the good comments received from many finishers were well deserved.
