  • Thetford Urban Event – Tuesday 19th July

As some of you know, SuffOC’s David Hodkinson has begun mapping Thetford, with the aim of putting on an urban event there in due course. As a trial, he’s organising a Tues evening event there on 19th July, starting from Barnham Cross Common. I’ve put some info on the website (I don’t have all the details yet but it’s likely to be a choice of 2 courses) & thought some of you might be interested – you’ll obviously be most welcome!

    Organiser’s Comments

Congratulations to all our course winners today after navigating round some very physically and mentally challenging courses. Thankfully the gorgeous weather made it a real pleasure for some of the rest of us to be out in the woods for rather longer!!

An amazing twenty seven people helped out in some way with the event, (including some invisible work behind the scenes) for which I am extremely grateful – thank you. The event officials though deserve a really massive thank you. Tim Eden, assisted by Kim stepped in to plan only four weeks ago straight after planning our last event. Alan Bedder yet again controlled, and was helped out on the day by Karen and Paul Goldsworthy who both checked the controls and collected them. Karen also made a very quick dash back to Norwich to retrieve a replacement download unit, without which we would not have had any results on the day, and then administered first aid to a competitor on her return. The event was on the verge of being cancelled before they all stepped in, and it was a real pleasure (and easy) to “organise” with such a great bunch of people, and so many willing volunteers.

I think, and hope, the only casualty of the event, were some housekeys. If anyone picked up a key (It had a tab offering a £10 reward) and forgot to mention it or hand it in, please let me know and I shall arrange return to the owner.

If you want to leave any feedback about the event, do visit our facebook page, or send us a tweet – it all helps to lift the profile of the club, and encourage those who have not yet discovered this wonderful sport.
